Harley Davidson Gateshead Showroom

With a wide range of knowledge and a keen eye for on trend design, the recent Harley-Davidson Showroom in Gateshead was a fitting job for North East Specifications Manager Sean Lane.

Set to turn heads and not just because of its show-stopping motorcycles, the new Gateshead showroom was a project which needed to have a high level of care and attention to detail in order to complement its furnishings without being overpowering… and of course not to outshine the iconic bikes themselves.

CTD Specification Manager Sean Lane was approached by Focus Architecture and asked to provide suitable commercial grade wall and floor tiles for the Harley-Davidson showroom. Sean knew exactly what was needed in order to achieve the desired final look in this showroom.

An industrial feeling was created by using 600x600 CTD Kompact Dark Grey on the floor. This is a popular tile which offered everything required within the project spec - durability, innovative sleek aesthetics and a contemporary feel.

In addition 250x60 CTD Halt 13N was used on the walls at the Gateshead showroom. Halt offers a rustic glazed porcelain tile with a brick effect in fifteen colour variations, one size and a natural finish.

All those involved in the project wanted to take inspiration from Harley-Davidson’s American heritage and the Halt range fit that brief entirely. This tile range was selected because of its authentic American bar brick effect look, evoking the bars of Milwaukee,– the birthplace of Harley-Davidson.

Sendrig Construction Contractors and Tiling Contractor: TVTC were on board throughout the development process of this project and their experience and wide knowledge of commercial tiling added to the Harley-Davidson Project, maximising high standards and show-stopping finished results.

We caught up with CTD Architectural Specification Manager Sean Lane who stated: “It was a real privilege to work with such an iconic brand as Harley Davidson. I have a personal passion for motorcycles, especially Harleys, and to be involved with Focus Architecture in the specifying of materials for this project was a joy. Just walking into the showroom makes you want to cruise along route 66”
