Tile Trends with Pattern in the Specification Market - Aug 19

From bold configurations to structured 3D shapes and designs, patterning has always been a popular format of creative expression within interiors.

The desire for creating spaces that stand out, delivering on both aesthetic and practical qualities, has driven the demand for tiles that make unique and memorable design statements. Creating patterns has been a timeless technique to each generation of architects and designers when it comes to making an impactful tile choice - from patchworks of muted tones to monochrome geometric patterns, decorative floor and wall tiles continue to be favoured by the commercial and specification market for a range of different environments.

Advances in tile manufacturing have led to reinventions of pattern trends and tile styles such as bohemian and mosaics. An increasingly popular choice, mosaics are extremely versatile as they are able to be applied to flat or curved surfaces as well as being suitable for dry and wet areas on both walls and floors. Offering a variety of colours, sizes and materials, the return of mosaics has seen the introduction of new finishes such as striking hexagon and geometric patterns, ideal for those designers or architects looking to make a true style statement.

New for 2019, we have introduced a number of new ranges to our extensive product portfolio that are perfect for patterning, including BeColors and Meraki. Combining a multitude of colours, shapes and sizes, the new porcelain wall and floor tiles are guaranteed to create statement features within any manner of commercial or residential space.

Taking inspiration from traditional encaustic tiles, our BeColors collection comprises two shapes, a star and a cross, in four striking designs. From electric blue to coral, each design is available in six colourways that can be mixed and matched to create truly individual interior schemes.

An eye-catching hexagonal shaped tile available in eight colourways, our Meraki range offers the opportunity to be creative with colour and pattern on both walls and floors. With the choice of a plain finish or two linear patterns, the tiles allow for true flexibility in design, enabling designers to create standout focal points in any residential or commercial setting.

Combining contemporary colours with classic encaustic markings, our Havana collection is another versatile range that blends various styles, giving character and enhancing any setting. Featuring subtle hues of blue and green, the intricate designs will add interest to any interior and create a truly memorable scheme.

Taking inspiration from the popular terrazzo trend, our Farnese series appeals to the most bold and exquisite tastes. Offering two base tiles, one smaller grain and one larger, the glazed porcelain tiles are available in two sizes and a wide variety of colours and eye-catching patterns, providing designers with the flexibility of choice.

Joining the growing collection of terrazzo effect tiles, we have recently launched our Venice Villa range. A reinterpretation of this famous look, the Venice Villa collection is an exquisite contemporary twist on the traditional terrazzo trend, combining the appearance of crushed marble fragments with the excellent properties of fully body porcelain stoneware. Available in eight colourways in a polished, natural or structured finish, from monochrome Silver, Grey, Zinc and White to the more colourful options of Earth, Beige, Graphite and Ivory, the Venice Villa tiles offer an intriguing combination of colours that capture and reflect light, enhancing commercial spaces of all types.
