Bar + Block Steakhouse, Belfast

Whitbread recently opened its tenth ‘Bar + Block Steakhouse’ in Belfast city centre, an all-day dining steakhouse which combines a destination restaurant with a welcoming bar fit for any occasion.

CTD Architectural Tiles were proud to supply a wide array of exciting and interesting wall and floor finishes to this new project. Inspired by the theatre of food and drink, the modern design includes an open kitchen and central feature bar with copper detailing, reclaimed wood, comfy seating and warm lighting.

Using the Lord range in 300x75mm, the White and Orange tiles were chosen to create a feature wall on the Kitchen Pass; the tiles were laid in a basket weave pattern to give it a more distinct look. To give the bar a decorative and attractive way to protect it from wear and tear the Lord Navy colourway was specified and laid in a vertical brickwork format. Playing with layouts in this way adds visual interest to the project and can be created in any format, look or style whilst also keeping the area protected.

600x600mm Kursaal in the Slate colour was specified for the floor near to the Kitchen Pass, this range is inspired by weathered basalt but the key feature is in the surface finish which combines high slip resistance (R11/+36PTV) with a non-abrasive touch. R11 rated tiles will not only contribute to a slip resistant environment but the Kursaal range is also extremely stylish and durable too!

Kursaal is available in seven sizes and six colours, click here to view the full range.

To create a focal point that catches the eye, our Masia rustic wall tile range in a white 150x75mm format was used on the wall in the refreshment area. This range features rustic ‘beaten’ edge profile to convey a sense of artisanal craftsmanship. The gloss finish gives a high-impact, glamorous look and the reflective shine makes spaces seem larger and brighter.

CTD Architectural Tiles produced a bespoke floor using the Terra Maastricht range, creating a modern standout design that adds charm to the bar. The bespoke design was fabricated using full-sized 300x300mm tiles, that were later cut down to 300x100mm strip; resulting in a unique floor design like no other.

Terra Maastricht has long been a reference range for heavy traffic areas, a timeless classic that adds a unique touch to any surface.

CTD Architectural Tiles worked alongside Harrison & Myriad Contracts to complete this project.
