Durham University MSCS Building

As part of Durham University’s investment in Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science, a brand new dedicated building has been constructed to house the departments, and CTD Architectural Tiles had the pleasure of working alongside Ryder Architecture & Contents Design on the project.

The new facility, located on the university campus at Upper Mountjoy, Durham, required tiles appropriate for a large open plan space with an urban aesthetic. The large format Memento tile collection, with its characteristic concrete textured look and anti-slip properties, was selected for the project.

The 1500x750mm size was ideal for the circulation areas and staircases of the building, with the mix of Silver and Mercury colours complementing the contemporary interior style with neutral, grey shades.

The smaller format 600x300mm Memento Old White Natural tile was also used on the walls of the WCs for a consistent style throughout the building, with the contrasting dark grey shade of 600x600mm Trust Titanium used for the floors.

Our CTD Architectural Tiles Specification Manager Sean Lane was delighted to work with contractors Sir Robert McAlpine and tilers Plunkett Tiling on the project, and pleased to have contributed to such an important educational facility.
